Kansas City Chiefs Confirm Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs released a comment on Wednesday evening confirming they are aware of domestic violence allegations made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of wide receiver the athlete and had been in communication with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Allegations Shared on Social Media

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention the athlete directly, shared a set of images on social media that appeared to show signs of physical abuse. She did say the person involved was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Currently Unavailable

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the incident is said to have taken place.

Rice's Prior Legal Issues

Rice missed the first six games of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his role in instigating a crash on a Dallas highway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced a month of incarceration and probationary supervision after pleading guilty to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the year with 53 catches for 571 yards and five TDs as the Kansas City finished with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first time in a decade.
