A female accused with harassing Kate McCann allegedly recorded her a recorded message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who a jury heard has persistently claimed she was the missing Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are standing trial indicted with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann from June 2022 and February the current year.

On Monday, the court learned phone records and data retrieved from phones documented Ms Wandelt repeatedly demanding Madeleine's mother for a DNA test over 2023 and 2024.

Madeleine's vanishing in 2007 - when she was three years old during a trip in Portugal - is considered the most publicized missing child cases and remains unresolved.

'I Am Not Seeking Money'

A separate voicemail, played in court, documented Ms Wandelt stating: "I realize I'm fat and unattractive like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I believe."

While a separate message of Ms Wandelt's monologues with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "What if there is a tiny probability that I am she? What then? Isn't that significant for you?"

"I don't want money, I have a living here in Poland, I only wish to understand," the message continued.

The jury was informed that through emails, mobile messages and communications, Ms Wandelt requested a genetic test, sent youth pictures to her phone in a effort to show a similarity to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and asserted to have "recollections" from a childhood with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, an investigator with the police force who gathered the data, advised the court there "seemed to lack any responses" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt furthermore communicated with acquaintances of the McCanns, as per the call data.

On that date, Gerry McCann answered a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, stating she had "a wrong number."

That day Ms Wandelt recorded a recording on Mrs McCann's answerphone declaring "I will persist and I plan to establish my point."

The court was informed Mrs Spragg struck up a relationship via internet with Ms Wandelt before accompanying her on a appearance to the McCanns' residence in Leicestershire in that winter.

Communication data demonstrated Mrs Spragg had reached out using WhatsApp to Mrs McCann to state the media had characterized Ms Wandelt as "a crazy person" but that she should be taken seriously in the period preceding the appearance to that location, the county, in that winter.

The court learned message exchanges between the two defendants, in November 2024, considering trying to get Mrs McCann's biological evidence from her trash or from silverware at a dining venue.

"We must assert ourselves," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the visit to their house, the defendant transmitted a message which expressed: "We are positioned outside the McCanns' home with our lights out similar to detectives. I desired to accomplish this with someone else I never thought I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
